bigFACTS.inc is a creative institution built to provide support for artists of all mediums.

We operate as an incubator as well as a consulting agency, supporting local entities with brand development and creative direction.

bigFACTS was founded by Mahadi Lawal in 2018 and is based out of Washington DC.

Mahadi Lawal was born in Kuala Lumpur on April 2nd 1994. He spent most of his youth between London, New York, Nigeria, and Canada before moving to the DMV at 18.

Mahadi moved to DC proper in 2016 and assisted with the opening of Old City Market and Oven, a first-of-its-kind deli, market, cafe, record shop, and much more, in Northeast DC. He acted as general manager, taking the lead on marketing, inventory, and many other duties necessary for the smooth running of the store.

After leaving Old City in 2019, Mahadi shifted his focus to finally releasing the first volume of bigFACTS however this was impeded by the pandemic, the police killing of George Floyd, and subsequent protests.

Mahadi formed the loosely organized affinity group “Occupy DC” with like-minded individuals. Together they organized protests as well as mutual aid actions such as free yoga, arts and crafts, movie nights, coat drives, jail support, and sit-ins.

In late 2022, Mahadi was tapped to be the service manager of Bronze, an Afrofuturist restaurant in DC. He developed the service program and ensured the smooth running of the establishment on a daily basis.

Mahadi acted as the editor-in-chief of local periodical Washington Informer Bridge from 2022 to 2023.

Throughout all of this, Mahadi released Volume 1 of bigFACTS magazine in April 2022 and Volume 2 in December 2023.

Mahadi is an accomplished writer, activist publisher, photographer, director, graphic designer, and hospitality professional with years of experience working on a variety of teams and projects.
